What is Environmental History?

In recent decades, a growing number of scholars havetried to understand howthe natural world influences human history. These individuals, representing a number of different academic fields, have studied nature and natural history, as well as humanity's role in transforming the natural world. The most visible of these scholars belong to a discipline known as environmental history, which rejects the commonly held assumption that human history is exempt from natural constraints.
